About Hilltop Botanicals

Our story

Hilltop Botanicals is a small botanical studio based in western Kentucky, producing seasonal loose-leaf tea, infused honey, and botanical studies inspired by the plants of the Hilltop landscape.

Each product begins with the same quiet intention: to observe the season, gather the plants that define it, and create something that reflects that moment in the landscape.

Hilltop Botanicals brings together botanical craft, seasonal tea rituals, and a deep appreciation for the natural world.

Handcrafted in Kentucky.

The Hilltop Landscape

Hilltop Botanicals takes its name from the small hilltop property where many of the plants used in our teas and infusions are grown.

Orchard trees, garden herbs, meadow flowers, and wild plants shape the character of each season.

Spring begins with orchard blossoms and tender herbs.
Summer brings bright meadow plants and wildflowers.
Autumn deepens into warming botanicals and harvest flavors.
Winter becomes quieter, drawing from dried herbs and stored honey.

These seasonal shifts guide the rhythm of Hilltop Botanicals.

Hilltop Botanicals focuses on simple botanical preparations.

Loose-leaf herbal tea is blended in small batches using dried flowers, herbs, and leaves chosen for their flavor, aroma, and seasonal character.

Raw local honey is slowly infused with botanicals, allowing the plants to gently transfer their oils and fragrance into the honey over time.

Each product is prepared slowly and intentionally, allowing the plants to remain the focus.

Tea as Ritual

Brewing tea is a small daily ritual.

Water warms.
Leaves unfold.
A quiet pause appears before the first sip.

Hilltop Botanicals approaches tea not only as a beverage but as a practice of attention — to season, to plants, and to place.

Many of the teas are designed to be enjoyed with infused honey, creating simple seasonal tea rituals that reflect the landscape.

Hilltop Botanicals is also connected to the regional beekeeping and agricultural community. The studio’s founder is an Associate Member of the Green Valley Beekeepers Association and serves on the Board of Directors for the Owensboro Regional Farmers Market, helping support a network of growers, beekeepers, and small producers throughout western Kentucky.

Botanical Studies

Hilltop Botanicals also explores plants through photography and botanical studies.

These images document small moments in the landscape — blossoms opening, tendrils curling, insects resting on petals.

Some of these studies are released as signed prints and seasonal botanical collections that accompany tea and honey releases.

They serve as a visual record of the seasons that shape the Hilltop Botanicals collections.

Hilltop Botanicals is also part of the regional arts community. The studio’s founder is a member of the Owensboro Art Guild, where botanical photography and plant studies continue to develop alongside the seasonal tea and honey collections.

The Farmer’s Market

Hilltop Botanicals is part of the Owensboro Regional Farmers Market, where the studio shares seasonal teas, infused honey, and botanical works directly with the community.

The market brings together farmers, growers, bakers, and artisans who produce food and handmade goods within the region.

Serving on the Board of Directors of the Owensboro Regional Farmers Market, the founder of Hilltop Botanicals helps support the growth of a vibrant local food system built around seasonal agriculture and small-scale craft.

Sharing tea and honey directly with visitors at the market keeps Hilltop Botanicals connected to the rhythms of local farming, beekeeping, and community life.
